Now in its ninth year, the Britt Saxophone Workshop is one of the world’s longest continuously-running summer camps exclusively for saxophones. The workshop offers a “music school” experience, with classes in theory, history and unique master classes such as yoga for musicians, classical saxophone performance and jazz improvisation. Performance opportunities include chamber music in a saxophone quartet, a saxophone orchestra featuring bass through sopranino saxophones, solo master classes and an opportunity for a private lesson. The camp will take place on the campus of Southern Oregon University. It features faculty performances, master classes in classical and jazz methods, a participant quartet recital and performing as guests with the Ashland City Band in beautiful Lithia Park. Recreational activities include a river rafting trip. The faculty are four of America's best saxophone teachers who bring to their teaching a wealth of experience on the world's classical stages. Download a sample schedule(pdf) to see how the week is organized or take a look at Dr. Bender's site for photos, videos and more from last year's workshop.

The Mana Quartet will present a two-week workshop, this June, as part of their residency at the Hot Springs Music Festival, in Hot Springs, Arkansas.

During this exciting event, MSQ members will offer private instruction and a series of seminars, during which they will share their experience and skill with participants.

In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to perform in quartets and a saxophone orchestra. In these ensemble rehearsals, some of the most important aspects of music making (style, intonation, tonal variation, musical interaction) will be thoroughly examined.

All participants will have full access to all HSMF concerts, including several concerts featuring works with saxophone and the US Premiere of Anders Nilsson's Concerto Grosso for saxophone quartet and orchestra.

For more information and application, please visit our website. We have a limited amount of spots, so apply soon!

Though not directly Saxophone related this could be an awesome festival/workshop to go to, especially if you are like me and LOVE Stockhausen. I would love to be there but I'll be in GAP right before and thus I will have no money to pay for this as well...

Eugene Rousseau will host his usual summer course at Shell Lake, Wisconsin this August. This year the faculty will be:
    Instructor - Dr. Eugene Rousseau
    Instructor - Dr. Julia Nolan
    Instructor - Dr. David Branter
Instructor - Dr. Stephen Page (That's me!)
    Instructor - Dr. Thomas Liley
    Instructor - Dr. Carolyn Bryan

    August 5-9, 2012. Details here: http://www.shelllakeartscenter.org/?q=node/26
