When you play contrabass saxophone (In this case, a Tubax) or Soprillo, you have to create your own music and gigs.
This video shows a big band arrangement adapted for both Soprillo and Tubax. Please go easy on the band. They were sight reading the chart, and I was, too.
The tubax has other uses. At Montclair State University, my tubax is being used in the wind symphony playing contrabassoon parts, with great effect. Tomorrow the Cowell Hymn and Fuguing Tune is being played with Tubax, and the next day our saxophone ensemble is performing with three works including tubax.
A recording of the Cowell with tubax will be released in the fall.
Is this the Eb or Bb tubax? Are you using it for contrabassoon because it has a more bassoonish sound or something than a contrabass?
