J'Elle Stainer Compact Contrabass Saxophone
J'Elle Stainer Compact Contrabass Sax
Range: Low B to High F (+ Altissimo Key)
Weight: approximated 17,00Kg
Finish: Body - Gold Lacquer
Keys - Gold Plated
Engrave: HandMade (Flower)
I had the opportunity to test and see this sax last Saturday and I'll describe what the feeling was.
After I test the prototype model he made several changes and some of the most important are:
1- Modern and very comfortable Key work, providing fast articulation;
2- Extra 8a key improved, easy to use;
3- Custom Contrabass Mouthpiece by Barkley Mouthpieces;
4- Custom Ligature;
All notes of the range are playable. It has a good intonation and a fat sound, plays smoothly and doesn't take too much air. Off course you should get used to it.
We played at this time testing the contrabass:
Prof Romeo Orsi curved Sopranino
Chinese Straight Sopranino
Chinese Curved Soprano
Cavalier Alto
Jupiter Baritone
Contrabass J'Elle Stainer
We played all these instruments with contrabass doing the base, sounded great.
I'm planning next year use this sax with a Big Band, any news I'll post here.
The contrabass was sent to Gilberto (in Italy) and he'll show to the Europe the Stainer work. Congratulations for the new horn.
I think the price is around 17.000 dollars, a reasonable price for this beast.
I uploaded some photos, hope you guys like.
Léo.
