My previous post was not correct. Benedikt Eppelsheim has told me that his new conventional contrabass saxophone is five feet 10 inches high, not seven feet high as I said previously. The configuration is similar to his new bass saxophone.
The slightly compact configuration should make it a little easier to get it into a vehicle. The low A key will make it play 1/2 step lower than any other contrabass. Here's a link to another photo:
Benedikt Eppelsheim displayed his new contrabass saxophone at the World Saxophone Congress This is not the Tubax, but a contrabass saxophone in the conventional shape. However, it does have a low A key, making it the lowest Eb contrabass saxophone ever. Here's a photo:
Theres one up on his website now and it has a sound sample, along with a contrabass clarinet. It looks great, i hope theres some more sound samples up soon.
