I'm not sure where to acquire such an immense case – but I've got to ask: do you actually need to bring six tenor mouthpieces to a gig? (on the assumption – perhaps mistaken – that this is what such a case is used for).

I have a set of small plastic drawers that they sell at hardware stores for storing nuts & bolts and other small parts. They come in several different configurations and sizes. I store mouthpieces as well as ligatures, mouthpiece patches, reed working tools, cork grease, etc.. You'd be surprised how quickly you can fill one of these things up with all sorts of little bits & bobs.
Another option is to use individual neoprene mpc holders, then find a convenient size box or bag of some sort to carry the number of mpc's that you may need. This is what I use to protect my mpc's:
Plus as an added bonus you can keep your beer cold while playing!
You need a mouthpiece drawer. I have a reed drawer in the night stand in the guest bedroom. When people are visiting they don't put things in a nightstand drawer just like you don't at a hotel, because you'll go off and leave them. Anyway, I picked up a home-made wood box somewhere that I keep any spare mouthpieces in along with anything else mouthpiece-related, like reed caps, ligatures/screws, patches, bags, etc. A wood cigar box is great for this, also spare necks.
I use a low, wide box with a piece of styrofoam cushioning for my mouthpiece drawer, but was considering getting a one-level plastic organizer or tackle box with dividers to keep 'em from rolling around.
A few years ago, a friend hipped me to the Hohner harmonica cases. I thought it was crazy at first but it’s been the best mouthpiece storage system I’ve ever used and I have a whole bunch of these cases now. They’re great and not too expensive and will fit any piece from sop to Bari
I use the ones for brass instruments. Altos and some tenors fit in the trombone holders. Some fit on a belt so you can switch on the run........not happening on woodwinds.
I’d like one that hold 12 pieces.
Just in case one of those odd notes comes up.
You can’t use one for all the notes, it’ll wear out in no time.
Then you’ll need more for each octave you think you might use.
So 36 should do it unless your altissimo is pretty solid.
I've been wanting to find something as well. I have around 30 mouthpieces, S,A,T, and one lone B. There in various boxes now but I would like have them better organized. Plano tackle box?
Tackle boxes work okay if you really feel like you need to be able to carry the stuff around. I've got a couple for carrying screws, nails, and what not for construction and home projects. For storing mouthpieces, ligs, mouthpiece patches, etc. at home I find small parts organizers like this far more useful.
Hah, fair enough. I guess I'm the opposite since I've never been much for fishing so I've never had a real "tackle box" that would remind me of lazy weekends on the lake. Every box I have that has a handle (out side of my horn cases) if full of tools, saws, drills, compressor guns, etc. so nothing says "home project" to me like a box with a handle and a lot of dividers.
Most stuff I just keep in shoe boxes, either in its original box or wrapped in a Crown Royal bag.
I also use my old Pak-a-Seat from my pedal steel guitar days for quick access to stuff while practicing at home. These things are great. They are sort of like a modified piano bench: basically it’s a wooden box with folding legs underneath and with a cushioned hinged lid to use as a seat. These are used by pedal steel players as a way to carry one thing that is both an accessory case and a seat. I keep my mouthpiece, reeds, metronome, swabs, what ever, in it and it’s what I sit on for practicing. Everything is out of the way and right there when I want it.
I think a Pelican (or clone) brief-case type thing is best, especially if you have a lot of mouthpieces. Get one with the foam pre-cut into little squares, then you can adjust the case to suit your pieces.
If you want to keep them in their original boxes then a tackle box is probably the best option.
They make them for everything from harmonicas to wine bottles - You can hang it on the wall and have easy access...hell - You can even wear it to the gig!
Checked it out and it was too big for my use. Still not sure what to use other than my shoe boxes.
