    Default Selmer Tenor sax M206572

    Greetings from Tokyo!
I have watched new sales post on Yahoo Japan auction and found interesting saxophone.

The serial number is M206572, but it carved at Mark VII on body. Please see below pictures.
    https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/s567608602

What do you think about that? Is that authentic Selmer saxophone?

    Please let me know.

I see that no one has replied - yet. I am no expert on Selmers even though I own five, but that horn in the linked photos sure looks legit to me.

I'm not sure what you meant by it being a Mark VII body. From the engraving on the elbow-ring, I couldn't see clearly what it said, but it looked like Mark VI to me and that's where that marking is supposed to be. DAVE

looks like it says MARK VII to me and it has the mark7 lowEb/C keys.
i would say it is a mark7 first one ever made.
ask the seller to send photo of the bell serial# where the bell-body brace is.
    good luck

It sure looks like a Mark VII to me...keywork, etc...the neck should say 'M7' on the front...but there is no photo to check it...

The bell to body brace is three point. My VI brace doesn't look like the one in the pictures.

    Many thanks for comments everyone!
I have asked several things to seller. Regarding serial number of bell to body brace, seller did not explained about it. So, I guess that this is a fake instrument...

it doesn't look like a fake selmer, its just that its a mark7 selmer that the serial# makes it made within the mark6 era.
this could be the first one made as an experimental one?
douglas phifer is a good one to ask about this.

    https://forum.saxontheweb.net/showth...+serial+number

This thread discusses one with a similar serial number that is probably still in Australia. It was from a deceased estate when I tried it; the guy had played it for years but I didn't know the history...whether he had bought it new or not.
The horn played nice from memory, and felt more like a VI under the fingers but perhaps a bigger or less focused sound? Was a while ago.

Its 20000 numbers earlier than my MKVI!

heres what douglas phiper said when i asked him about this saxophone.

" in the 206k serial number range, there were about 70 Mark VII tenors produced.
They are all in the 206,5xx to 206,6xx range.
The non-Mark 7 production of the 206k horns was mostly sold from Nov 1972 to Feb 1973.
A small number of the Mark 7s were sold in 1974, but most of them were not sold until mid 1975.

    Does this answer your question?

    Cheers,
    Douglas Pipher

thanks douglas and i hope this helps you for this lovely mark7 tenor for sale michael?
