Default advice needed about Amati tenor

hi, there is an Amati Kraslice tenor for sale, model 62 which should be a professional model i think... seller is asking about 600 $ for it but even if he claims it to be in a good order and perfectly plaiyng condition, there are some black spots on the neck and body. i'm not an expert, but i'm not really worried about the neck, spots on body looks like very bad resoldering to me. any advice on the state of this sax?

professional model? Well, what’s in an adjective..

Good though Amati saxophones are, they aren’t what most people would define as professional although you could say that a professional model of anything is something that somebody uses to make money.

Most people earning their money with a saxophone wouldn’t entrust their sound to an Amati 62.

This saxophone is a workhorse, yes, not particularity refined and it will do its job.

In the NL they are difficult to sell and they cost very little, one in perfect state you can easily buy for €400 (or even less) maybe you would pay a little more for the Musica Steyr Austria ( same saxophone just a little bit nicer in few aesthetic points but they are worth a little premium say €600 in perfect state).

You can probably do better with your $600

Linbaba, I wouldn’t call any Amati “ high end”.

    It is what it is.

Please, don’t think I am a snob but don’t delude yourself.

It is a simple and robust functional saxophone fit for the purpose but hardly a high end saxophone, nothing more, nothing less.

I played the 61 for about 5 years before getting my YTS-61 last year. They are fairly decent horns for the money. Nice big sound decent ergonomics. The tuning is a little bit wonky but can be gotten used to. I bought a used Phil Barone Neck which really opened up the sound and helped with the intonation. I ended up selling it to a student of mine who normally plays alto and he's enjoying it a lot.

I did need to have it taken in more often than most of the horns I've played. Every six months or so to have a few adjustments. So that might be worth factoring in.

I've got a bunch of old clips of me playing it on my youtube.

    Here's one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBpMNW02TD0 solo at 2:04

Most of my clips of my electronic stuff I'm playing the Amati.
