80's (4th Gen?) Tone Edge Casting Numbers

Here is my experience with 1980's HR Links.

Short body TE—1980's production - inside-divot under baffle, has shorter body section, longer shank and beak, 2 stamp under table

Long body TE— 1980's production, divot under baffle, or 1 stamp under table.

I have also seen a 3 under the table, but not very often.

I find these harder to find as well. Some of these can play mind you and I know some folks will turn their noses up at them, but they are just different than the older ones. It's weird because with saxophone design, it seems like manufacturers kept trying to make the saxophone louder and brighter after the '70s but Link made their pieces darker and darker .... Who's to say why?
