Not a A902? What is it about the W series that you prefer over the 9XXX series? As an owner of several Yani's (no W's -yet) - I'm curious...

You may have better luck with a brand-new one. There aren't many used bronze WO horns around. For some reason, however, a new AWO2 is extremely cheap from Japanese sellers on eBay. The Kessler price for a new AWO2 is $4,149. Even from sax.co.uk without the VAT, the price is $3,188. But on eBay, you can buy one for as little as $2,673 -- including shipping from Japan! What is the likelihood of finding a used horn for substantially less than that? Kessler's shop demo horns still cost a thousand bucks more!

I have always wondered if anyone had ever gone that route purchasing a Japanese horn online like that. I was thinking of it last year when the Yen was weak against the US dollar. I wanted to purchase a WO-1. I just imagine the import taxes could be huge and was scared off.
I have a friend who played Keilwerth horns for years and was touring on a cruise ship when his alto broke somehow around a year ago. He ported in Japan and was surprised to find how inexpensive the Yanagisawa was there. For some reason they are much more expensive everywhere else and even more so in the USA. He still plays that instrument now.
Has anybody tried purchasing on eBay or direct from a Japanese website like LostConn is suggesting and would recommend this approach to the OP?

I bought my AWO1 (yes, not a 2, I prefer brass) sight unseen from Matthews Musiek in Edam, The Netherlands a couple or more years ago. The price was at least $1200 under the U.S. price.

While I prefer to buy locally, that kind of differential was impossible to pass up. I don't know about Japan but I've done business with Matthews before and trusted that the horn would arrive in great shape and would be a player. It did and it is. DAVE

I own one. Not for sale. I bought it directly from Thomann here in Europe. It’s an excellent alto.
