Hello!
This is my first time on the forum. I have the same baritone Evette as you do (s/n 34830). Only my Sax does not have a neck. I tried to replace the neck from Conn 12, but there were problems with tuning, especially from the middle of the second octave and higher. I want to ask, do you have the same setup problems, or is this affected by the unoriginal neck?

Re: Gloger silver on baritone

welcome to the forum,

PLEASE don't start a wave of crosspostings as you've done here!

https://forum.saxontheweb.net/showt...te-Schaeffer-bari-34020&p=3210162#post3210162

you ALSO sent me also a PM with the exact same text as in this post above.

There is no need for it and it is also prohibited by the forum rules (read them please).

Relax, one post is more than enough. All the people whom participated to a tread get an email alert.

Having said this, I can imagine that you have e-malled Karsten with the same level of anxiety and expect a quick answer? People are busy and sometimes takes time fro people like Karsten Gloger to answer.

Anyway.

Your Baritone is most probably a stencil of some brand most Evettes were, so Karsten Gloger has to first decipher which saxophone it is.

this is a list of baritones that Gloger has measurements for

Bariton

Amati
Buescher Aristocrat
Buescher 400
Buescher
Canonnball
Conn 12M
Conn - New Wonder
Conn Chu Berry (early)
Keilwerth SX 90
King Zephyr
King Super 20
Lien Cheng LC
Martin Handcraft
The Martin Bariton
Selmer Model 26
Selmer MVI earlier model
Selmer MVI later model
Selmer SBA long model
Selmer Cigar Cutter
Selmer SA 80 II
Yamaha YBS-61
Yanagisawa
Yanagisawa 901
Yanagisawa Bronze
Weltklang

It is in fact a better idea to publish pictures as a link to an outside image hosting service ( Fickr, Image shack, photobucket) by publishing them there , copying the link to the picture and pasting the link where, in the go advanced section " aller in mode avancé", there is a " projection screen" icon.

Don't chose the option to " reference the images locally".

Once we have established which saxophone it is it will be relatively easy for Karsten Gloger to make a neck ( you need to check measurements ).

Re: Gloger silver on baritone

Russian you can publish your pictures with the method that I have described before

it is much easier because people don't have to open a different page. Also. turning the image is a good idea too.

Your saxophone appears to be an Italian made Evette , made in all probability by Alfredo Santoni Paré Como

Re: Gloger silver on baritone

As published before in this article

http://thesax.info/blog/alfredo-santoni-and-the-mysterious-production-of-saxophones/

The Evette Schaeffer saxophones were very often stencilled in this era ('70) by Alfredo Santoni , ditta Giglio, Paré-Como Italy.

These saxophones, especially the Baritones, shared certainly some common traits with Grassi, Rampone & Cazzani, Alfonso Rampone and Orsi.

Although it is very difficult to have a neck made for your baritone by Gloger (because he doesn't have the original to copy or the exact measurements of a Santoni neck) it could be possible to adapt a neck from Rampone & Cazzani that they are still producing.

They have cheaper series which might provide you with a not too expensive donor.

For example the " Super" series is their cheapest serie and they make a baritone too.

I am sure you can sell you Conn neck for enough money to buy the Rampone

Get in Touch with the son of the owner of Rampone & Cazzani, Claudio Zolla ( Rampone & Cazzani is imported in Russia and they might send it through their importer avoiding for you the customs complications unless you have someone who can pick up the neck for you in Italy).

Re: Gloger silver on baritone

Where can I find (order) the neck, or its size?
The Alfredo Santoni Company closed down in the late '70 so those necks are NOT available.

You may find a Santoni baritone saxophone with a salvageable neck but any brandless neck that you are going to find you will never be sure it belonged to a Santoni because it might have belonging to many other similar brands.

Rampone & Cazzani is the only surviving company which had many contacts with Santoni and possibly shared some things like a design or a neck.

I cannot guarantee that your Santoni - Evette will match exactly the Rampone & Cazzani Super, Baritone !

You could ask Claudio Zolla at info@ramponecazzani.it

Re: Gloger silver on baritone

The Santoni neck is very similar I use (from Conn 12M). Why then is my saxophone so "untuning"?
Your neck might " look" similar but it might not be similar at all.

For example, to me, it is absolutely evident that the position of the octave " pip" ( the octave vent) is very different.

In both Santoni and Rampone it is more or less at the center portion of the " bow" the curve of the neck.

In the conn it is visibly higher next to were the bow ( the curve) of the neck becomes the straight portion.

Length, taper and volume can also be very different.

RC and Gloger can not help me, they do not have such measurements. Please, let respond members of the forum, who have such a baritone! I really need the size of this neck! I have already found the master in Russia who is ready to make it for me.

Russ you are mixing the two threads again after Saxismayaxe has separated them

in the other thread I gave you the name of several owners of saxophones like yours

there is no need to send the baritone to Italy.

It will be crazily expensive and bureaucratically a nightmare, I have extended experience with trading with Russia and the first thing that always came up with clients was the difficulty in avoiding hefty customs costs.

A hand made to specs Gloger Baritone Neck with octave key in copper will cost you €350 (which really shames the price asked by Rampone & Cazzani, they Super Model is not a very expensive saxophone how can they ask €500 for its neck? I am disappointed!)

READ please the pricelist here (follow the link)

http://www.gloger-handkraft.com/saxneck.htm

I am afraid that even if you could advertise here you wouldn't be able to find a spare neck for an Evette Schaeffer Baritone.

There are very few of these baritones around and there will be even fewer available necks around the entire world.

Do get in touch with Gloger again.

Be patient.

Describe exactly the situation. Tell him that you have a Buffet Evette Schaeffer baritone which in all probability is a Santoni made stencil.

There is a remote chance that he has already done something like this and I know that he would have kept all the measurements.

In any cade DO provide him the measurements of the receiver (at least).

Despite the fact that you cannot advertise you can ask members that we know tey have a baritone of your brand.

They can send you pictures and measurements

these members are: (some of them might no longer be active here do send them an email since the private messages won't always reach them).
