I've acquainting myself with my newly purchased YAS-52 and, out of curiosity, I slapped a number 3 Rico Orange on the stock 4C that came with the horn and was never played. It was amazing! Easy to play the full range of the horn and I got closer to the Desmond sound than I have ever been able to in the past. (No I will never totally channel Paul Desmond, but this was real nice.)
Inspiring to play and I am trying it today on a gig. So, my lesson is: You can't go by the price or material of the mouthpiece.
