Default P. Mauriat at Guitar Center?

First off, I also play guitar (my reason for going to Guitar Center). Didn't even realize that Guitar Center sold saxophones, but at this store, they have a P. Mauriat System 76 SGL Pro Soprano on display that is marked as "clearance" with a price of $1,119.97. This seems like a really good price for a quality soprano. Should I be leery to get a soprano from Guitar Center? As you would guess, the employees have limited to zero knowledge of horns.

If the store has no woodwind shop, but the horn is truly new, not used, probably the worst that could happen is you'd have to pay a saxophone tech $50-$100 for a good setup of the instrument (fixing any leaks, adjusting key heights, regulating). You're getting a discount on the horn's normal retail price of more than 50%, so it would still be a fantastic deal if you like the sax.

    Yepper.

    Here's a comparo for prices. http://www.saxalley.com/p-mauriat-sy...soprano-1.html

Play it. There's no reason to buy a horn if you don't like it - good deal or not.

That's a really good discount. Even if you don't like it, you could probably sell it for a profit.

Ah, there's a good Flippin' attitude. And who cares of its condition? You can always lie about it...

The OP stated that its a store demo. Who knows how many Guitar Center shoppers have tried to play Stairway or Freebird on it?

Guitar Center owns WWBW and others and sells horns online. Probably a mail order return. Here is their catalog page:
