Default Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition

Does anyone know any information on the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition? Or in French, Jean-Marie Londeix Concours International. Is there a website, when is the next competition, who is to be contacted, etc.

If I'm reading the online application right, you'll need an accompanist for the "State" portion (the first round) in the MTNA competition.

I really get a kick out of how many of these big competitions give away saxophones as prizes. Something tells me that if you win a saxophone competition, you have a saxophone. And if you can afford to spend a couple thousand bucks for plane tickets, room, and board for an international sax competition, you probably already have the saxophone you want!

To answer my own question, here is a post by Shyen Lee regarding the Londiex Competition. http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showpos...90&postcount=1

Yea, the whole saxophone as a prize is ok with me. In Dinant, one semi-finalist I was speaking to said he was not at all dissappointed that he didn't make the finals... quote 'if it were 20,000 euro I would be mad, but since it's only 8,000 euro, its no big deal'. Well, he can send me the next 8,000 euro he wins if he doesn't want it!

William C. Byrd Young Artist Competition in Flint Michigan is open this year to woodwinds and brass. $6000 first prize! I don't think a saxophonist has ever won this competition.

I think Stacy Wilson won it in 2005

Is there other international sax comps other than Dinant and JM Londeix Comps, and do you have to be invited for any of them?

I know Redlands has their Young artists competition in the spring. However I don't have much info on that at the moment. I remember that the piece has to memorized though. Last Saxophone to win it was in 2004.
