Greg, I am psyched that you like it even more than the Robusto. I know how much you love The Robusto--so that means a lot. It makes me feel good that you dig my designs so much!!
    Thanks

Eric is getting the mouthpiece today. I am really interested to see what his thoughts are because he has played the Robusto metal for several years now. Curious what he thinks of the new hard rubber
    piece.

I heard from Eric Spaulding after he got the mpc from Greg, and his first sentence in the email was,
"Holy sh*t, this thing is dangerous!!"

He told me if he could steal it and get away with that he would, LOL---and he immediately placed an order for one of these right away in his tip size. His email was so fantastic and I know he will come on here and share his findings on it and posts an audio or video of him playing on the piece too. He has been a metal guy for a long time in a 9 or so tip, and he told me this is the first HR piece in a LONG time that has really moved him to decide to get a hard rubber piece for his himself. Even though the piece I sent him is a 7* tip (because thats the only prototype size I have here), he said he could tell right away that it was just a beast and could do absolutely everything he could need a piece for. He is jonesing for one in his normal tip now.
He said he can't get over the flexibility and he said it can sound like the best old Link EB he used to have--but even better, but also be able to go into a totally modern Berg metal Lenny Pickett vibe with punch and brights. He told me it was the perfect all-around piece that can do EVERYTHING.

It can get darker than the Boss can and brighter than the Robusto can.

I am very pumped up to hear how excited he and Greg are about the piece and I'm sure Eric will post and audio or video shortly since he wrote me with this information.

    Stay tuned...

    An incredible piece for $375!

Oh yeah, I meant what I wrote to you Mark. I feel like it is dead center between a Robusto and the Boss -- it has the flexibility and the just open throated, huge blowing quality of the Robusto with the ability to get the roar of the Boss. I was surprised by how easily I could switch gears (or styles) and get a sound that was authentic to the style. It's not a one-dimensional sound and doesn't lock you in to specific tonal qualities. I spent a few days just practicing on it, scales, etudes, and a few solo transcriptions to get a feel for it, then really got to pushing it to see where it broke. But it never did. It felt totally comfortable screaming the Lenny Pickett stuff, and was just as comfortable playing along on an Ike Quebec transcription. It has a warmth to the sound even when played at full volume and with full pressure, that you just don't find in higher baffle pieces these days. Absolutely loved putting it through its paces.

If I'd had this when I was playing full time -- primarily in a GB band doing weddings and corporate functions -- I woulda been in heaven because I wouldn't have had to change pieces for the cocktail trio set and the 4-hour R&B full band set. This is truly designed for working musicians who want their voice to come through regardless of the band or genre, and I dug the hell out of playing it these last few days.

Full disclosure -- I stopped playing for 4 months at the end of 2016 and the start of 2017 due to some serious health issues and having to take some meds that really messed with my body. I'd picked up my horn maybe 4 times since Jan 1 before this piece arrived. My noodling isn't as strong as it was before I had to stop, but I'm back to practicing and building my chops up. But here's a video of me playing it on my VI, my Oleg neck, and with a Rigotti Gold 3 light reed.

Will the metal traditional version have curved, undercut sidewalls and a large chamber?

Hi, the 2nd piece I will be introducing to the marketplace is a more traditional blowing piece and will be made of hard rubber also.
I really love the hard rubber so much that I am focusing on that for sure.
We have done tons of adjustments to that Proto type so I cant tell you yet how it's going to end up yet. The last adjustments are coming shortly. We have tried straight sidewalls, slightly undercut side walls, and more scooped sidewalls so I am not sure yet how the final product will be. The chamber will be larger like a Link and my 10mfanâ„¢ mouthpieces have. Stay tuned and I promise I will update.

As for the 1st mouthpiece that we will be releasing, (which is the one in this posting that Eric and Greg have played), it has straighter sidewalls and they are not undercut.

The great Ivan Renta has asked to try the mpc out, and he will make a video.
Very excited to hear how he sounds showing the real straightahead jazz sound of the piece.
The mouthpiece has such a beautiful body and richness to the sound.

Thank you for all the orders! Keep them coming because the pieces will be cut in a couple weeks and if you want to get in the first couple of batches sent out, place your order.

I will post more clips as the Proto type gets around. The feedback has been exceptional.
The introductory price is $375. These will not stay at this price for long, so it's a no-brainer to get yourself on the order list early.

Steve Neff, David Mann, Ivan Renta, and a couple other great players will be making audios also....stay tuned!

Unfortunately Ivan will be posting new videos soon. I say unfortunately because I miss the hell out of playing this piece and rattling my windows when I practice. I'm excited to hear how Ivan puts this piece through the paces, but even more excited for the day when they are available in a 9 so I can have one of my own.

I am sorry, my friend. I wish I had multiple Proto types in different sizes, but I just have that one to send around.

I promise you are on the list for the first group of pieces that will go out to clients.

I am sorry but I have to admit in a sick and demented way, I am happy to hear that it is torturing you enough for you to post something. LOL

The pieces will be ready soon, my friend. All will be well again in the Spaulding home.
