Default Drake Stubbie - new resin model, anyone tried it?

Aaron Drake ceased making metal pieces some time ago. He used to make a metal version called the Drake Stubbie. He now makes a resin version of the stubbie. Has anyone tried the new resin version? Has anyone compared the metal and resin versions head to head? How do they differ?

I didn't care for it. It was too stuffy for me.

The metal version was very popular. When they are put up for sale used, they usually fetch a pretty hefty price. If Aaron was able to make a resin piece that plays similarly, I would think there would be demand for it and several people would have play tested it by now.

Jazz theory as it exists today didn't exist when the greats were revolutionizing jazz. Just some food for thought.

Just tried out the Drake resin stubbie, first impression is stuffy indeed,
I has a stubbie sound but lacks character and clarity of tone in the mid range
From what I remember the metal stubbies where better

I have a few more days to try out the mpc, I will let you know my impressions of the piece

I played the Drake stubbie and it was stuffy initially because the reed was too hard. I went down a number on the reed and it sounded good to me.

Generally I really like Drake pieces. I have not had stuffiness issues with any of his pieces and I own several. Some I like better than others, but all play fairly easily and tend towards less resistance. I would love to try one of the Drake Stubbie pieces one day to see if I like it.
