I cannot recall who opened this to a .100 tip, but I think it was Bunte purchased from SaxAlley quite a while ago. In any case, I've owned several Broadus HR tenor pieces over the years. All of them have been fantastic and this is the last one to leave my collection as I plan to stick with metal Otto Link-style pieces rather than confusing my embouchure by switching back and forth.
This particular one seems to be a bit more versatile than some others I've owned. Some were very locked-in on a warm sound and others locked-in on a brighter sound, but I felt like I could coax this one to be warmer or brighter with a change of reed. I typically played various versions of Vandoren or Rico Jazz Select reeds on it.
Intonation on my Mark VI tenor was never an issue with this piece.
As you can see it is very discolored and has that "old rubber" smell, but plays like you'd expect from a nicely-refaced vintage rubber piece.
With the flawlessly-fitting Vandoren Optimum ligature included, I'll sell for $200. Ships from Illinois USA.
