Default The new G-REEDS came to set a new standard.

After more than two years of intensive development work we finally got a reed which fulfill our initial requirements. Our reeds are available in 4 different models in strengths between #1.0 and #4.5.

We developed G-REEDS from scratch, without any kind of reverse engineering, nor by using existing products as a reference. After many tests we found a material which fulfills all of the requirements we defined at the beginning. We created a software model which allows us to estimate the reed tone (brightness/darkness) for a given material’s physical properties. Based on that information we developed a geometry which generates the desired tone.

For the entire development process we used GNU Linux and open source software. This was for philosophical reasons; and also due the high quality of the available software tools, sometimes surpassing expensive commercial tools.

We received valuable help about using polymers from the Department of Plastics of the INTI (National Institute of Industrial Technology, Argentina).

With the technical information we obtained during the research process and the conclusions of the early development stages, we developed a Python application for calculating and generating every reed geometry. This software allows us to modify key parameters and to get reeds with the desired tone and response properties, or to create new models quickly.

At now the best place for getting them is our shopping cart: http://www.g-reeds.com/en/shopping-cart/

We also have a Facebook fan page with comments from our customers: https://www.facebook.com/gereeds/

Funny that i was just reading from your technical page a couple of minutes ago!
Same as what you posted above.

The shopping cart page does not render well on my iphone.
Every page scrolls up or down, but the shopping cart page is wide also.
I cannot get it to move left to right, or to resize.

Thank you for your feedback. I just posted the technical stuff because most of people don't take a look at the website. I'll check the iPhone issue, thank you for pointing that.

Luis, i am very interested in trying your reeds. i currently use Java Green 2.5/3 and am very happy with their sound and feel, it is only the cost i find unsettling. What model and strength of your synthetics should i order to get closest to this sound and feel?

I can see 4 models listed but only 2 available on your site, is that right?
I'd like to get one of each for my alto so compare them all to my Legere signatures

    Luis,
I currently use Gonzalez tenor Jazz Local 627 size 2.5 and 3. What model and strength of your G-REEDS synthetics should I order to get closest to this sound and feel?
    Thanks,

You should see the 4 models in the shopping cart page. Maybe you're using a phone, a user reported the shopping cart doesn't show OK on small screen devices, I'll fix it as soon as I can. Please try with a computer or at least with a bigger display device.

Yes, it's an international shipping flat rate. It's free in 4 or more reeds orders.

    Thanks,
I never played Gonzalez Jazz Local reeds but in my experience (and in my place climate conditions) G-REEDS are 0.5 harder than regular Ricos and has the same strength than traditional Vandoren reeds (blue box).
