Model 2 is the darkest available on G-REEDS while models 1,3 and 4 are bright models. Each one of these has it different tone. Model 3 is the most even between registers at the expense of a light sounding lower register. Model 1 and model 4 are equally bright but Model 1 has a more focused sound while sound is more spread on Model 4. I hope this helped you.

I've just received an email from Dawkes in the UK as they are now selling these reeds, which brought me here. Like a previous poster I play Rigotti 2.5 medium tenor reeds and was hoping to find a recommendation on strength and type but sadly haven't, even after 13 pages. As I have never played a synthetic reed I have nothing to compare them with. To confuse things further Dawkes say they play softer whereas people here say they play harder. It has taken me a long time to find a good match for the mouthpiece, an RPC fairly high baffle with 115 tip and having found something that works maybe should not chase this particular rabbit but, is there anybody out there using the Rigottis who has found an equivalent G-REED? Dawkes will do exchanges for a couple of weeks but I'm not sure I want to get into that. Thanks just in case.

Hi, I never played Rigottis but G-REEDS strengths are on pair with Vandoren Blue Box, maybe this could help you.
