    Default Melissa Aldana key risers?

Tried the search button, to no avail.
Does anyone know what the reddish stuff is on the palm keys and on part of the left pinky cluster of Melissa Aldana’s tenor?
Are they key risers or is it a rubber coating that prevents from slipping of those keys? It looks like a rather thin coating…

Melissa-Aldana-480x453.jpg Hi, it looks like the stuff they use on tool handles. I use sucru myself, very easy to use and very effective.

Just give Emilio a call and he will tell you how he did it. A friend of mine has the same on his tenor and i believe Emilio did it for him.

Search "Plasti Dip" or "plastic dip for tool handles".

"Plastisol" is another name in the vinyl coatings industry. http://www.vynaflex.com/

I have a mk. vi that Emilio put key risers/ramps on. This was back in the early '90's. I believe he used jb-weld, lol (I doubt I'll ever be able to remove it). Ms. Aldana's keys are souped up with something else. From the looks of it Dr. G is most likely correct in his assumption that it's plasti dip. If so, this was used not so much to change the shape of these keys, but to add traction to keep her fingers from slipping off these keys. Neat idea.

Emilio does these and all it is, is plumbers epoxy that he puts over the keys, shapes, and then paints with nail polish.

10MFan is correct. Emilio put a riser on the low Bb of a Mark VII I once owned. It was the perfect shape and worked really well. Best of all I came in off the street and he did it for free even though I tried to pay him. Such a nice guy.

I had Emilio do this to my Mark VI Palm key, side keys and low Bb. It was a great improvement. Oh, and I got to hang with Dave Liebman since he was also getting his horn worked on.

That makes sense. Now I know how he got the sparkles in the jb weld.

I need to check out some sugru sometime. I like working with epoxy putty, it is very durable, easy to form and source, but I always like to have alternatives for any given task.
