Excuse me while I pick my jaw up off the floor. That was unreal - and beautiful. Listening to great music always raises my spirits. Thanks for posting!

Amazing scales converted into pure glissandos. It almost sounded like a slide instrument rather than a keyed one (e.g., the slide soprano that Paul Cohen demonstrates on his CD).

The P. Mauriat Masters 97 alto sounds quite good in this and some other classical videos I've seen.

Nice practice room. Sounds like he enjoys spending extended periods of time in there.

No wonder he took the mouthpiece off and started playing that way. He just got bored with his massive amount of technique.

And suddenly I realize how very far I still have to go. That was at once uplifting and depressing.

This is why I never quit my day gig and have high respect (and some envy) for great instrumental virtuosity. Would be great to see him live indeed! But I did fortunately hear Rasher live many years ago at a weekend sax clinic I particpated in at Fresno State and can still vividly remember how well he played.
    thanks for posting

I met him a couple years ago and he's very serious about his music. Even the stuff he plays without a mouthpiece. He performed several of his pieces and took some questions.

    Alto - '66 Mark VI/Meyer 6
    Soprano - Yani S-900 w/Tenney Tone Edge 7

Same here and thanks indeed. So much for the quest for the right mouthpiece...
