Hello all, Kate here from Wales. Just got back into playing with a band after a gap of 15 years from when my daughter was born. I play a bit of a mystery instrument - bought from a reputable dealer 30 years back as 'we don't know what it is, maybe dates from the 1950s' - but it was very much the nicest horn I could afford after playing my way through their second hand tenors. I'm hoping someone on here may be able to help me ID it

Hi all, after reading for a long time in this forum, I finally created an account. I've been playing for more than 20 years. I'm very much guilty of GAS. But buying new stuff is fun too right. ;-)
But seriously, I'm trying to improve my playing as well. Hoping to find some helpful tips here.

    Hi Everyone
Got an admission to make, I always wanted to play sax but never got the chance, now I'm a proud dad and my daughter loves alto and soprano, she's got distinctions in all her grades, she is due to take her next classical and her first jazz grade this summer, she loves selmer and yanagisawa for the fast keywork and great intonaion which she needs for her exams but she learnt on a martin handcraft!

Hi everybody! Writting from Spain and thinking of selling my, recently acquired, Tenor Selmer Mark VI silver plated 107XXX with new pads and checked by a good Luthier, in great playing condition but not for me right now. Just playing tenor sax for 3 years, a great instrument and really really easy to play... bad

    Dear all,

I am a double reed teacher who recently took up the clarinet. Looking to take up the alto saxophone next. I have been browsing the forums here for information on mouthpieces and equipment. I live in Hong Kong.

Hi everybody, Klaus from Norway here. Will turn 65 in a few months, and picked up my first alto the other day. My fingers are not so good with the guitar any more, but I need to play some instrument and I love the sound of the sax.

    Hello,

I am posting on behalf of my daughter who play the sax. I control the money, so I have a say in much of the buying and selling. She plays the alto and tenor in high school concert and marching bands andloks forward to marching in college. My older daughter plays flute and percussion and is a member of the Clemson University Drumline.

    Hello SOTW,

I'm Matias and I've played alto sax for almost 30 years. Lately my sax was not being kept too busy until I joined a big band in the local conservatory three months ago. So now I'm getting more serious trying to keep up and to learn all the repertoire.

I live in Antibes, a small town in the French Riviera but am originally from Santiago, Chile. I play a 1947 The Martin Alto with a Morgan 6M (M6?) MPC. I also play a cheap Chinese soprano with a Dukoff MPC that has been surprisingly good since I got it 8 years ago.

I wanted to share with you some pictures of my latest sax-realted project; a gig bag that can store my alto and soprano horns, along with the stands and parts. I made it by hand using Uruguayan leather and some nice French velvet for the lining.

Hello, I'm Elo from the Bay Area. I took a long break from the saxophone but I'm back with a vengeance! SOTW has been such a great resource and very often comes up in my google search I figured it was time to join.

Hello, I'm Matias. I play alto for about 35 years and picked up a rather nice, cheap (inexpensive), Chinese soprano some 7 years ago.

Alto: The Martin Alto, Morgan 6M, Hemke 2 1/2
Soprano: I can't remember the brand (I'm at the office and don't have the horns with me), Dukoff D8, Hemke 2 1/2.

I have always played as a hobby. I had not been playing much in the last couple of years but joined the local conservatory's big band a few months ago.

I live in Antibes, in the French Riviera but am originally from Santiago, Chile.

    Best regards,
    Matias
