I've just been made aware by another friend of mine that SOTW respected member , my and our shared friend and fellow member Armando J. Conti, know on SOTW as " Ballad Kid" has passed away suddenly and prematurely a few days ago, 8 October 2016, at the young age of 59.
They produce ( the company has more people and will go on even without Armando) some of the most impressive tonearms and turntables in the audio business and their products are world famous.
Armando's work and projects were works of art and one could have not gone past any of it without developing a sense of wonder and awe for such beautiful but also exceptional technical achievements.
Armando was, also, a keen saxophone player, and the saxophone was one of the many passions that he and myself we shared, an other one was coffee, he was in fact also the beginner of " Espresso Armando" a company that he opened to produce (it couldn't be any less than that) " the best espresso machine in the world ", with these machines he co-operated with Starbucks.
Sorry to hear this.
We shared a number of PM's a few years ago where we spoke about our repective businesses.
I can't say I knew him well but he came across as a very genuine person.
Rest easy.
This is awful news. We talked a lot about acoustics when I first came on this forum and he was always such a great guy. Brought real engineering knowledge and expertise. RIP...this is very sad.
We've had a rough year with illness and death on this forum. It's really depressing.
Extremely sad news as he was always very nice to communicate with. Thank you so much for posting this information and for your heartfelt post, Milandro.
R.I.P. to the Ballad Kid and condolences. there is a thin veil that separates life and death and sometimes it's lifted unexpectedly. I am fortunate to be here one more year.
Condolences to the family, they must be heartbroken with the unexpected passing of their loved one. I hope they can take solace in his work and passions that were evident up to the moment of his last breath. RIP. Ballad Kid
Very sad news indeed. I met Armando in Rome when he came to visit, really interesting guy, full of passion and enthusiasm on so many subjects, Renaissance man describes him well.
I am sad whenever i hear that a sax player passes away...really i cannot help from crying!
Adios amigos!
Farewell!
The times they are a changin'...
