Default How many 20th anniversary owners?

Recently purchased a Big Bell 20th anniversary alto and wondered how many others own an anniversary horn.

Oh, Oh, Oh, Mr Carter, that's me!

Just picked up my new VR Anniversary alto today. I am tickled pink with it!

If I could figure it out, I would post pics.

Take a seat Vinni and welcome to the neighborhood. I was starting to feel like a party of one.

I did indeed. It is a beautiful horn. The stones are a big treat as well. I have bought new horns before, but I have not been blown away like this horn has done.

But the sound is what really knocks me out. I much prefer the traditional size bell. The big bells just shotgun too much for me. Not that I don't like the big bells. They sound good, but once I played the ANNIV model, it was all over.

I have very short fingers and the action is perfect for me.

Now, please know that I am a hack sax player. I have been a guitar player all my life and that is my #1 instrument. However, I am fascinated with the alto and what it can do to a song. SO, the horn is my 2nd instrument, if I may call it that. I sure wish I would have started playing it as a kid.

I have been communicating a lot with Randal Clark of Cannonball and he did the set-up for me personally. Wow! Just amazing.

A year has come and gone and the Cannonball is a keeper. Practice every day and it's a joy to play. Life is good.

Been 6 months now and I am still in LOVE with my Anniv alto.

Again, please know that I am not a pro player as some of you are. However, this horn helps me to sound much better.

What sets this Cannonball above the rest of my other horns for me is that it almost knows what I want to play. Hard to explain. I just have to THINK the note and voila. My Selmers are not so.

My daughter comes over once a week and plays piano with me. We have about a half dozens songs we play together. I can walk into the room with my Selmer and she will know immediately which horn I have on after the first few notes.
She prefers the Cannonball Anniv hands down.

I was using a Drake MP for some time but have switched to a Claude Lackey. I use the stock wire style lig on it. Gives me much more control and better altissimo.

I am still very happy with my purchase of this horn. No buyer's remorse at all. I wish I could say the same thing about a lot of the guitars I have purchased over the past 45 years.

It's been over a year now and I feel the same way. The very fact that I still own the horn after 15 months is a testament to it's staying power. :-) My P Mauriat is also a keeper but playing time is at about 75% CB & 25% PM. I've tried several mouthpieces but keep returning to the Cannnonball 5J. Playing back to back with others (Meyer & Vandoren) the 5J just sounds better to me. I've been playing alto and tenor since 2010 but health issues forced a 6 month layoff. Getting my chops back on alto and hope to one day return to tenor. I practice with the PM - I play the CB. Life is good.
