Yesterday in London, Naomi Sullivan recorded a work of mine for soprano saxophone and tape. Although a work for classical saxophone it apparently sounds psychedelic. For this reason studio techniques were used, extensive reverb, delay and some backwards saxophone towards the end.
Sometime ago I read a classical music writer who said that composers and players should start making more use of the techniques available in a studio, so this was a good opportunity to try it.
