    Thanks for the quick response, pricier than a Link, Meyer or Vandoren yes and for those of us north of the border we pay more because of the currency exchange. At today's rate 150 US is 190 CAN. I have a Meyer 5M and Link 6* for my vintage Martin alto and both are OK, I was considering the Nova because of their "hand finishing". Someone out there must have tried these pieces so I'll keep checking that out.

    Somewhat more expensive than the standard Yamaha mouthpiece (C) is the Yamaha Custom (CM). I have a 5CM for tenor (which may be more like a 6C in tip opening) which I used for a long time. I still think it is a great mouthpiece. I don't know anything about the ones for alto.
