Yes. The Chu altos are used by a very few (David Wright comes to mind). But no one uses the 6M or 26M despite their highly refined tone quality and easier intonation.

    Yep. :-)
I just don't get along with smaller-bore saxophones for some reason. Absolutely hate Selmer Mark VIs and Buffet SDAs (but admittedly have never tried a Mark VII or S1). The Connqueror works well for me, with a really dark, singing tone and fine intonation and projection. Whatever works, man.

    Mouthpiece: Vandoren T20
    Ligature: Rovner with a window
    Reeds: Vandoren traditional 3.5

Alto: "Horace" Mart-uescher-onn (hybrid / mut) stencil
    Conn Steelay Mouthpiece
    Vandoren Traditional 3
-A smooth sound but the horn will need an overhaul to actually be performance-ready.

    Rascher Mouthpiece
    Hemke 3.5
    FL Ultimate Ligature
-An edgeless, expressive, beautiful tone! Comes with a price of resistance, sadly. Still quite good to me though.

This makes me sad, unless it is a ploy to get me to sell you my tenor!

    I've changed a bit too:

    Soprano:
    Yamaha 875EX
    Vandoren Optimum SL3 (for now)
    Vandoren Optimum Lig
    Vandoren Traditional 3's

    Alto:
    Selmer Super Action 80
    James Houlik MP
    Vandoren Optimum lig
    Vandoren V12 3's

    Tenor:
    Yamaha 875
    James Houlik MP
    Vandoren Optimum lig
Vandoren Traditional 3's or Alexander Classique 3's

    Baritone:
    Yamaha 62
MP - TBA, search in progress
Vandoren Traditional 4's or 5's (when I can get them)

It's always interesting to see what everyone else plays on, I must say.

    UPDATE

Alto is now gone, shopping around for likely either a YAS875 or SA80II.

    Tenor:
    Barone Vintage
Selmer S80; refaced by Robert Scott
    Vandoren 3.5
-Tone is much more responsive and flexible than the previous Rascher setup, plus stronger in the altissimo range. It's dark enough to satisfy my desire to not stray too far from Rascher but is ultimately much more useful. Goal is to never switch in college.
Soprano: Selmer Paris Series III Selmer Paris S90 170 + Vandoren Traditional 3.5 Selmer Paris Silver Ligature
    Alto: Selmer Paris Series III
    Selmer Paris S80 C* + D'Addario Reserve 3.0+
    Ishimori Gold Ligature

I have a Yamaha Custom Z alto with a Selmer C* hard rubber mouthpiece, Rovner versa lig, and Vandoren Traditonal 3s.

Same mouthpiece, lig, and reeds for tenor, but I have 2 tenors. One sax is a Selmer Reference 54, and the other a Yamaha YTS-875.

For bari sax I like a Selmer D mouthpiece - don't own my own horn though.

Is the alto the one Kevin was selling?

Not done tweaking. Just a little bit left to go, and I plan on being set for at least the next several years.

OK, I believe that I am finished tweaking for a long time. The sense of relief that I feel these days when I'm practicing is something that I've never before experienced, so I will take it as a sign to make no changes for an extended period. Here's what I am using:

    SOPRANO
    • YSS875EXHGLAS
    • Yamaha SG2RS neck
    • Vandoren Optimum SL3 mouthpiece
    • Vandoren Klassik ligature
    • Vandoren Traditional #3.5 reeds.

    • Yamaha AV1S neck
    • Vandoren Optimum AL3 mouthpiece
    • Vandoren M|O gold-plated ligature
    • Vandoren Traditional #3 reeds.

    And that is all!
