Thanks for sharing the info on your horn.

This horn was shipped from Selmer Paris in January 1930 and was sold to Selmer USA.
It shipped as an unlacquered, unengraved horn.
Based on the Serial Number I would assume this to be a Large-Bore Alto.
Selmer shipped roughly 400 Altos to the US in 1930.

Douglas, I don't know when my horn was lacquered.
Do you know if these horns for the U.S. market were finished in France or the USA?

The US Market horns would have American pads, engraving, plating (or lacquering as the case may be) and set up.

It appears that Selmer Paris did not start lacquering horns until 1932 ... but I do not know when Selmer USA started using lacquer.

    Thanks lePhilippe
The description says that the bell has "some small dents and a small crack"
That seems to be a little bit understated.

    Hi SaxBerg,

No, this instrument is not a Modèle 26 .. nor is is a Cigar Cutter as the seller claims.
Although the serial number is not clearly readable, this sax appears to be a 13k Large-Bore Alto.
Based on the photos, it is clearly later than a Modèle 26 and also clearly earlier than the Cigar Cutter.

    Hello Douglas
A friend who lives in Essex, England has recently bought alto 7098 which has a front F.
It is lacquered but I suspect it was originally silver plated.

Any information would be gratefully received.
    Thanks

    Hi Alan,
    You are correct.
Selmer #7098 was originally built as a silver-plated horn and sold to a store by the name of Heyworth in London, England.
It shipped in October 1927. If your friend would be willing to share some photos of this horn, I would love to see them.

What is strange is that the seller of this baritone is located in Mèze, close to Montpellier France, but the background of the photos shows a wall with bricks that are much more typical of the south of the Netherlands - over 1000km away.
