Well, I never did find a Big B to play, though I heard a nice one live not long ago, paired with a Robusto. But I did score a TH&C tenor, which is just amazing. Would still like to try a Medusa, President, or any bari. And maybe a Beaugnier.
A little bit louder and a little bit worse.

My Yanagisawa SC991 - but it's late, and everybody's sleeping. Damn I love this horn.

I have wanted to try a Martin Lion & Crown (Comm II) tenor for a long time, but never have come across one on sale here. Ditto for the Martin HC Committee (Mars Attacks) tenor. I owned an alto one of these and it was great, but tenors are what I love most. Also would love to try a King Super 20 full pearls and maybe a Selmer SBA, although I really have never been drawn to Selmers. Once you play a Martin Comm III there is no need to lower your standards.

I wish I could try an Olds Super....several years ago I almost acquired a couple, but got outbid. Have always been curious about those.

I had one and played it for about 10 years. Nice tone IMHO but over-rated by today's standards. I know there are VI lovers who will hate me for this.

The intonation of modern horns are much better. I had a Couf Superba which had even better tone, better intonation, and more comfortable ergonomics for my hands. I now have a nickel plate MacSax classic that is IMHO a very under-appreciated horn.

Me? I'd still like to try a Super 20 with silver neck and bell.

I've never played any of these before.
    How about you?
I've never played any other decent alto except the one I own, which is the Buescher New Aristocrat. I'm not all that good, but it has a nice, rich, deep tone. It has no f# key, which is the only hassle with it that I can see. It has plenty of volume to enable me to play a solo above the band without any trouble.

Actually, I'm really enjoying the edge and core of my Armstrong tenor, but the palm keys are a bit thin and the intonation a challenge. I'd like to try a better horn in the same family, maybe a vintage Couf or Tone King. Also a good Kohlert tenor because my alto's so sweet--maybe a 57, Bixley, Regent, or stencil thereof.
A little bit louder and a little bit worse.

Couf Superba and a Conn 26 m. Ah!! I am on the same boat as post #163. I would love to try a selmer Mark VI that once and for all makes me understand their "magic" and exceptional thing . Especially against a 10m, or even (my own) ref 36.
Selmer Reference 36 tenor, mouthpieces RS Berkeley Chris Potter, Navarro Maestra HR 8
