I'd like to play a really good Buescher Top Hat and Cane tenor - and I should have one on the way sometime this summer. My other horn of interest was a full pearls King Super 20 tenor, and I got to play a really nice one recently. If money were no object, I'd be on the lookout for one of those (and budget for a nice overhaul).

I've played through most of the other tenors that have had any appeal to me. My Borgani Jubilee (with a recent Matt Stohrer overhaul) has spoiled me. I've been playing it for the last 8+ years after riding the Selmer bandwagon for a couple decades.

    I'd like to try:

    1. Borgani Jubilee
    2. Rampone & Cazzani R1
    3. King Super 20
    4. Blashaus converted Chu Berry (not that I'd actually buy one, at those prices)

Although I'm in no rush to try anything. My Superba 1 is a heck of a horn...keeps my tenor GAS away.

It sounds like you enjoy the same palette that I seek. Have you played a TH&C tenor?

    Is this a Blashaus conversion?

Although I mostly play alto, I wouldn't mind trying a good Dolnet, an original Adolphe Sax (for kicks), a Leblanc 120 (I enjoyed the 100 alto I recently tried), or a Buffet tenor (French-made) of any era. I've played enough Selmers and old American and Japanese tenors to satisfy my curiosity about the few I haven't tried, and I've never gotten along with Czech, German, or Italian saxophones, so until Selmer prices come down I'm looking to the oddball French to supplant my Martin.

I wouldn't mind trying a TH&C tenor just to see if it's as good as my pre-War Aristocrat or 156 Aristocrat. Some years ago I bought the 156 from Gayle at vintagesax instead of a nice TH&C she had, because it was priced less and she told me she couldn't choose between them (as to which was better). I've always wondered if I made the best choice...

I've noodled around on a Truetone and an Aristocrat, but never a Top Hat and Cane. Maybe I'll have to add that to a list to try, someday.

There was a music store in either Minnesota or Wisconsin that had two Black Pearl 2's a while back...can't remember the name of the shop at the moment.

I'd have some ties on my priority list of stuff to try. Not that I'm desperate to try any, but if offered the chance to pick, say, any 3 tenors I've never tried....

    Tenors:
    1. TH&C
    1. Super 20
    1. Yamaha 61
    4. CommI
    5. SBA
    5. Mark VII
    7. Some pre-1900 horn with the original Sax system
    8. A Mark VI I actually like
    9. MANTRA (for no other reason than to say I did)

    Sopranos:
    1. Custom EX
    1. Custom Z
    3. TT curvy
    4. CB Big Bell curvy

    Altos:
    1. Super 20
I'd like to try a Grafton but I'd be too afraid of it to actually pick it up

    Baris:
    1. Big B
    2. CB Big Bell

Any decent bass, just for the hell of it

Interesting to see the number of Super 20/Silversonics and THC's mentioned. And the Leblanc mentioned twice, I never expected that.

The New Yorker has come up a precious few times here on SotW. Apparently it was a prototype in the era of the Voll-True II/ Zephyr phase, and had a few keywork quirks I'd like to look at. The thread I learned about it is here.

Having tried an Eastlake Super 20 and a Cleveland Zephyr, I know I want one of them in my future collection.
