Default Sigurd Rascher archive now at SUNY-Fredonia

Hey fellow classical sax people -

For those of you unaware, the Sigurd Rascher archives are now stored at Fredonia State - all of Rascher's instruments, scores, letters, concert programs, and RECORDINGS are now in the library there. Anyways, there is an ongoing effort at Fredonia to raise grant money to digitize all of the Rascher recordings for preservation. If you want to stay up-to-date on this important effort, all you need to do is become facebook friends with "Sigurd M. Rascher Collection at Reed Library, SUNY Fredonia." Thanks.

    Dave

Thumbs up Re: You need a new facebook friend

I've just received, through NASA, an email from Carina Rascher, as follows:

After six years of intensive work, the entire estate of Sigurd M. Rascher
has been filed at the special archives at the State University of New York
in Fredonia. The archive includes over 7.000 letters, correspondence with
composers, music, manuscripts, articles by and about Sigurd Rascher, over
300 original audio tapes, instruments, including contra bass, artifacts, a
vast amount of handwritten and typed notes and photos. For further
information, have a look at the Facebook page.

Thank you for your assistance, Carina Rascher

Dave, I hope you won't mind if I change the thread title for clarity, and make this a sticky.

Thought I would just throw this out there.. Was at Penn State's Single Reed Summit this past weekend. Wildy Zumwalt was there and gave an awesome presentation on Rascher and his life as a saxophone pioneer. He also hinted that his biography of Sigurd Rascher is about ~2 years away!
