I have a chance to buy a C melody soprano for $200. It has about 90% lacquer, no dents or dings, pads in decent shape, no mouthpiece, but original case in good shape. The Bell is marked Lyon Healy, Chicago, Courtier Model. This is the first c mel soprano I've actually held. It plays well but will need adjustment and a few pads as I get a gurgle on the lower stack. Is this a good price for this sax?
I forgot to mention the serial number is: C 12633 L

C Sop with no dings and original case, and moderately playable for $200? Hell yes! I don't thing they came with lacquer originally, so if it has some, it may have been done later (I'm not necessarily saying buffed like a relac though--maybe just an initial lacquer to keep from tarnishing--pics would help here).

.. The Courturier horns usually had the G# key with a concave center.
Not in the days of the "Couturier Model". When Lyon & Healy introduced the new key design (1926) including the concave G# (Artist Model) the "Couturier Model" disappeared. The Keywork of the L & H "Couturier Model" is not different from the earlier models "made by Couturier".

This one is very rare and it is actually made by the Couturier Band Instrument Company in LaPorte spring 1924 immediately after Lyon & Healy purchased the company. No Conn. The C-soprano was already on the market 1923 "made by Couturier".
