Hey all,

I was wondering about the double trill in the 5th line:

the first one is fine since it is from E-F (marked by the natural), but the second one (in the last 2" block) really gets me...

it seems that Berio would like the trill to go from E-???, the flat doesn't quite make sense to me...then it is followed by a multiphonic sign...

is the second one even a double trill???

how is it supposed to be played?

thanks

It is a double trill from E to F.

After you start that double trill, you then make it a "Z" note by putting down your low C and Bb keys. The last E in that "measure" is still under the "Z", so it is still a multiphonic.

You facilitate this by putting your right thumb on the low F key, double trilling with your index and middle fingers, then use your pinkies to make the multiphonic.

Hope this clears it up!
