    Re: Left hand sax?

True, but for most, the left hand works harder.

When I play leads, the right hand picks as many strings as my fingers fret, but my fingers also bend, hammer-on, pull-off, shake for vibrato, slide,...

    Re: Left hand sax?

No, I respectfully disagree. You use both for all but G, G#, A, B, C, C# in both octaves and high D and D# - on these 14 notes the right hand isn't used at all.

So the left hand works much...

    Re: Left hand sax?

    I still say.

If the right hand can be lazy and not involved in a third of the notes and the left hand in all but one, then the normal sax is a left handed instrumet.

    I also think normal guitars...

    Re: Left hand sax?

I still say the "Normal" sax is a left handed instrument.

Fingers on the left hand are involved in every note on the sax but the middle C# of the normal range. Yet the right hand gets to take a...

    Re: Left hand sax?

All saxes are left handed. After all, the left hand works a lot harder than the right.

Re: Band in a Box ?????

What I like about BiaB is the fact that it is not completely predictable.

I know that as a style maker, I can enter 4 or 5 patterns that only appear in a certain situations (like the V7 of a ii V7...
  7. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

It's more the manner of the responses and the attitude than the part itself.
  8. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

    Thanks Saxnetwork. PM sent.

BTW, I have a old Hamilton, the leg bent by the unused hole for the flute/clarinet peg (I only use one). It was a nice stand, and I was going to go back to that if I...
  9. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

Gigging with the plastic tubes is fine. No problems at all. Thanks to those who suggested it. Actually, I think they protect the sax better than the original pads.

    Keithl, I agree. Yes,...
  10. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

Bad customer service is just that, and we are all in the customer service business. I'll definitely think twice before ordering anything else from Hercules.

I would have much rather replaced the...
  11. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

I like the compactness of the Hercules stand, but their customer service sucks.

I refuse to do business with them again and reward them for not caring about their customers.

    Ever business is in...

    Re: unstick sticky pads?

I haven't read a credible case against the dollar bill. I've been leaving a dollar bill in my G# key for about 50 years now, with zero negative results and zero sticky pads.

    I think the lighter...
  13. Re: Payment for rainouts? Is there an industry standard

I've been playing outdoors at a marina one day a week for 9 years now. There is no indoors. When it rains, we call and cancel or they call and cancel and there is no pay. Granted it's a weekday and...
  14. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

    Thanks.

I'm not going to waste a call, if they don't answer e-mail, I'll probably be on hold forever.

Too may companies don't understand every business is in the customer service business.

  15. Re: Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

I would expect Hercules to make a replacement for the sub-assembly that is most likely to wear out.

And my problem with them is not primarily with that. It's taking too weeks to respond to an...

Thanks to you all for responding.

Is this the K&M Saxxy stand a couple of you mentioned?

  17. Hercules stand=bad customer service - I need a new tenor sax stand - please recommend a new brand

    OK, here's the deal.

I've been using a Hercules Alto/Tenor stand for a few years now. The padding on the lower bracket is wearing out, so I send Hercules an e-mail asking if I can purchase a new...

    Re: Saxophone Arm

I've picked up saxes for decades - it's what I do for a living. And since I also play flute, guitar, wind synth, electronic percussion and sing, it means I pick the sax up many times per night....

    Re: Wet index finger...

The wet finger doesn't bother me. Comfortable playing position helps me play better so I put the sax where my hands want it and where it feels balanced.
