Your band sounds great! Where could I get a copy of a CD? Or are you on iTunes?
    Thanks, Sam
  3. Noobie, I mostly play a 221,xxx MKVI tenor. Also 2 other tenors: a 'series one' Buescher Aristocrat (circa '39), and 156 Aristocrat (circa '50).

What tenor do you play? I see you around the board, rocking that horn, and it always makes me wonder what it is, haha.

    Hi John,

The disk arrived. Very many thanks. I like South City's motto. A perfect fit. I sent you a PM just to test out that method of communication. Hope it gets to you.

  6. Sure thing George, I'll send you the CD. Hope you enjoy it, but I think you'll learn more listening to the masters than to me (I still have a lot to learn). Check out some King Curtis, for a start!

One thing about doing a CD, you can only put a limited amount of material on it. We have dozens of songs that the band plays that I wish were on there (including some jazz stuff). But we can't afford to do another CD just yet. We do have some more recordings that we need to mix and then we could put them up on the website.

Congrats on getting in the blues band. Have a good time with it I'm sure you'll also learn a lot.

    Cheers,
    John

    John,

Thanks for the link to your band's website. Nice sound! I started playing with a blues band about 6 months ago and am working hard to get up to speed on everything. I am having a blast.

I'd love a copy of your CD

  8. Hi George,
I haven't posted any recordings directly to SOTW, partly because I'm not very computer savvy. However, you can hear a taste on my band website: www.southcityblues.com

There are some partial clips from our CD on there. I'd also be glad to send you the CD if you give me your mailing address.

    All the best,
    John Lull

JL, Have you posted any recordings of yourself on SOTW or elsewhere? I'm always learning something from your posts and figured I might be able to learn something from your playing, too!

    George
