hi dan - really random but i was lookin around the internet and found your post a couple months back about having solo transcriptions to some billy joel songs, specifically "only the good die young." any chance you could send those my way? <-- my email (new saxforum user...can't pm yet :/)

Sorry to butt in on the neck receiver conversation and all... but a good repairman most certainly can expand the neck of your sax. They have this cute little can-opener looking thing that will ever-so-slightly expand the neck tenon to match with the horn. Really quick todo, too - I had this done on a spare neck in minutes by my tech recently.

Hey dan!! Is that you from nj? Brian here, bari player jazz lobsters! Go to bed!!
  6. Did you tell the repairman about that? The don't make the neck thicker, they cut out a little more gap between the two sides of the receiver so it can close more. Take it back to the guy!

ok,so now i got it back, there is a shiny new screw in there.little tiny problem though even when i screw the new screw all the way in (don't want to break it again so being ultra careful) and tighten as much as i can without applying too much force, well, the neck would still move if pressed ever so slightly.where do i go from there !!!!???? they can't make the neck metal part thicker !?
  8. Yeah, dude, that happens all the time. No worries. Probably your repairman will say that your neck tenon receiver needs some adjustment, because you shouldn't have to turn the screw so hard to get the neck to stay in place. They will just drill out the screw. It takes 20 seconds and is no problem for a pro. Try and resist the urge to do it yourself, but if you mess up the threads, it's more of a problem than half a stuck screw.

so here it is,gave up on the selemr sa80 and got a shiny yas-275 is like 5 days old, I put in the neck, i lift the octaver ring, twist the neck in, put the octaver ring down, start tightening the neck screw, probably too strong though it didn't feel that way like i was forcing it or anything, and BANG CLIC CLAC it SNAPS on me, i am left looking at my new horn bewildered like this can't be happening to me, i got the half screw in my hand , and the other half is in the horn.sure, it still plays, but the neck swings left and right, that half screw that is in it is so tiny , not protruding or anything, i can't think of what they are going to have to do in the store to pluck it out, screw it out, there is no leeway , no piece that is out to grab with plyers or anything.
    it is so sad really.
ever heard of a neck screw breaking in two on someone on any horn !!!!????
