Silver Plating

Well, was looking for a Keilwerth SX horn at a good price, and saw only one on ebay. It seemed like a price that couldn't be beat, so I got it. It's a SX90 Silver plated tenor. Now I have some concerns. Although I've heard of many players talk about the lacquered, nickled plated, or even silver-nickle plated horns, few ever talk about the silver plated ones.
Anyone have any good/bad experiences with silver plated tenors in general? Is there an obvious difference in tone quality compared to say, nickle finish? Other than the higher price and maintenance procedures, is there any other reason people wouldn't not prefer silver?
Thanks.
