Vandoren ~ JAVA
I'm looking to try out these reeds, so I've been wanting to get twin packs. My teacher suggested getting sizes 3 and 3.5, but I can't find size 3 anywhere. I've also found it strange that wwbw.com does not offer Boxes of the JAVA reed. Why's this? Is the ZZ replacing the JAVA and therefore stores are stocking up on ZZ and not so much JAVA?

I really hope that the ZZ isn't replacing the Java line b/c Java reeds seem to be the only reed that works really really well with me. I'd be very disappointed.

ZZ replace Java??? No, Java sound better than ZZ for me and it's much more easy to play, almost free blowing.
Honestly, ZZ sound more dark than Java. I like Java & Traditional much more than ZZ for alto.
Who knows if it is true (ZZ will replace Java). If yes, I will buy 10 box to keep stock.

If they discontinue Java it would be the last straw for the french. I need reed, but I don't think Java is being discontinued.

That's odd. . .I've been getting them from the woodwindbrasswind catalog for a while. boxes of 10 JAVAS size 3. So I don't know what happened to them on the website, but look in the regular catalog. I think they're around 17$ a box of 10. . .

If you like Java's, you may also like the Vandoren V16's...I used to play Java's and switched because I felt the V16's had better tone and weren't so squaky.
