Default Stupid Reeds...

I play a lawton B7 SS and I have been switching between lavoz mediums, rico royal 3's, lavoz medium-softs, and rico royal 2 1/2's. The medium reeds have a big, full sound but sometimes can be hard to play softly in the lower register which is much easier to do on the softer reeds but I think they produce a weak sound that isn't full at all. What should I do to try to get the best of both worlds?

Drill a slightly harder reed, ala the drilled reed thread.
