Default Soggy Reeds

As my practice time approaches the one hour mark, I find that saliva is everywhere and that my reed is soaked. I also find it harder to hit the altissimo notes. Although the problem is probably my weakening embouchure, I have tried to switch to a different reed. Sometimes it solves the problem, but sometimes it does not. So my question is this. Do reeds get soggy and can this affect tone production? Or am I grabbing at straws and should just get back to strengthening my embouchure? Thanks in advance
