Happens to be my wife's birthday... I don't think I'll mention to her it's also Saxophone Day for fear of being El Kabonged by my own axe.

Re: November 6 is "Saxophone Day" - what are you doing?
Friday nights, unless our band has a (rare) Friday night gig, is model railroad night at the house - several guys come over and we work on my layout, and talk train stuff. But I have big band music playing in the background.....

Playing in my room until I get yelled at, probably. Then moving to a practice room.

Ahhhhh, sitting on the beach in Cancun! (Wishing I had a soprano sax to take along to practice - a little).

Re: November 6 is "Saxophone Day" - what are you doing?
I'm going to be loading in and maybe mixing a one night wonder show that will probably be a colossal cluster .... And I don't think there's going to be any saxophones in the show, and I won't get to play mine.

It's my wife's birthday too, and I told her.
She is also a musician, so she understands.

I'll be in the pit for NUNSENSATIONS.
Alto and soprano along with clarinet and flute.
I put is as a gig, but the only payment I get is 1 free ticket for any family member/friend of my choosing.

Re: November 6 is "Saxophone Day" - what are you doing?
I will be going home for the first time since the start of college and trying out some altos that I plan on using for classical (for the most part) and jazz.

I will be driving my son and some of the other kids in his boy scout troop down to Baltimore so we can visit Fort McHenry and the USCG Cutter Taney (the last ship still floating that fought on Dec 7 1941).

Re: November 6 is "Saxophone Day" - what are you doing?
Playing alto, tenor and clarinet on a gig with a 10-piece swing band. Not to mention schlepping and setting up fronts, PA system and electric piano. Then packing them up. To add insult to injury, I gotta wear a tie (yellow) and blazer (blue). The leader is a stickler for uniformity. He even provides the ties and blazers so they'll all match.

I knew it! There is a cosmic connection between the alto and me. I was born on November 6th. It all makes sense now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
