    Default Boss TU-80 Tuner Metronome

I don't know if this is the proper place for this post or not. I figure if it isn't someone will move it or delete it.

Any way. I purchased a Boss TU-80 tuner metronome a while back. I am having a problem with it and am wondering if anyone else has the same tuner/metronome and the same problem.

The packagng says that this tuners range is E0 to C8. However, when I play A2 on my bari low F#) it won't pick up the note. I went back to the place I purchased it from and we tested out three other ones with a piano and got the same cut off point. I called Boss and they want $36.00 and hour to look at a $20.00 tuner. Guess what I aint doing?

Any one have any ideas or have the same problem?

    Hello,

I don't have any advice. I did notice that the post is from back in June of last year. I am considering buying one of these tuners. Can I ask you a couple of questions? First, did you ever resolve your problem? Also, were you using a pickup or the mic to tune with? Finally, what did you think of this tuner and is the metronome sound loud enough?

Thanks in advance. If anyone else owns one of these, please feel free to chime in.

Not quite as convenient but I use a Korg CA-30 and a Seiko SQ-50 for all of my stuff. The metronome has headphones out, which is nice, and the CA-30 tunes pedal range of my tuba, so no problems there, both fairly cheap. I have started using a Korg OT12 for most of my tuning. It is MUCH more sensitive, which helps with bagpipes immensely, but it is also around $120.

I did have that problem when I trued a TU-80, but I was tuning a tuba to lowBb not a bari, which at A2, is almost a full octave above that. I think it's a bad microphone, and that the full range could only be utilized with a pickup.

I haven't found any metronomes spare, the big Boss DB-90 *Dr. Beat* that I have for marching band, to be loud enough for rehearsal. Most metronomes do have a headphone out jack, so I just use that when I'm playing. Works well, or I go off of the light.

I also have a Sabine Metrotune MT-9000 that is great as well *and great price, I think around $30*. This doesn't get a whole lot of use anymore, but got a lot of use during high school.

Yes I have too many tuners and metronomes, but each one gets used regularly, and each have their own purpose.
