    Default Songs you're sick of

There's certain songs in the music community which are played to DEATH!
For guitarists it's Stairway to Heaven and Smoke on the Water.

So what songs are you SICK of hearing people play?

    Mine are obvious:
    Smoke on the Water
    Stairway to Heaven
    Pink Panther

Love and respect the songs, but can't we have something else in between? LOL

b-girl, this is similar to the "most hated song request" thread
    http://forum.saxontheweb.net/showthread.php?t=55892
but still worthy of its own discussion, for those who are not in a position to take requests. But one can mine that other thread for suggestions of songs that make you ill.

"The Happy Birthday song". At least when it's sung to me. Enough already.

does anyone still play Smoke on the Water!! Mine- Mustang Sally and Midnight Hour, pity- as the original versions are superb but who needs another ropey wedding band version? Another one- again, great tune but well over used at jam sessions, Watermelon Man....
By thew way- the proper Henry Mancini arrangement of the Pink Panther Theme is brilliant

I was at a jam last Saturday, and during a particularly looonnng version of 'Crossroads', started up 'Smoke on the Water' as a background riff. The other two saxos joined right in. The drummer almost fell off his stool laughing. The guitar players and bass player were clueless.

    Ha....they had to by YOUNG!

Last summer at a jazz jam, an old and crusty guy who plays a wicked clarinet just randomly broke into "Sway"...and us...uh...older guys jumped right in.

Like your guys, the young ones had no idea. And it didn't help at all when we referenced Dino, or Michael Buble.....or even the Pussycat Dolls!

    But back on topic:

I really can't stand the Beatles song "baby you can drive my car"

OMG does that song lack any talent or creativity or anything.....

I throw the Smoke on the Water riff into solos on different tunes, usually any old R&B jam like Hey Bartender. The 1st time I did it, the band cracked up. Now they request it - and the harp player joins in.

Blasphemy! The entire Beatles catalogue is to be taken as brilliant and nothing less! You should be drawn and quartered!

At the music store I go to, everyone at the piano just has to play Für Elise.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they could go past the first A section...

and hardly anyone plays the rest...

I saw a similar sign in a London music shop years ago where they had a list of fines. You know; £2 fine for playing Smoke on the Water, £4 fine for playing Sunshine of your Love, etc. Hilarious!

Agreed. But it's only been four days since I last played it. I think it's the anthem of the "greatest generation." It gets tiring, but they do really love it, and they deserve to hear it.
