lately when i'm playin i get a sound like too much airs coming through almost sounds like stan getz on girl from ipanema if anyone knows what i'm talkin' about.
i like his sound, it's just that arines(ive got it to the point where it's a negtive i think) is the only thing i could think to compare it to that people would know, c'mon EVRYONE has heard that version of girl from ipanema
You're probably playing with a really relaxed embrouchure, which is great and probably produces a nice sound... it's just too relaxed for your liking. If that's the case, I would try to firm up your embrouchure a bit without losing the sound quality. (my 2 cents having not heard you)
Airiness should never be a part of the saxophone's sound unless deliberately added by playing with a subtone. The goal the rest of the time is to make 100% of the air cause the reed to vibrate and not have any portion of the air make a sound of its own. Practicing long tones with a good embouchure, a good mouthpiece, and a responsive reed will help to develop this skill.
That makes a lot of sense guys since i only get this sound when moving from bari to alto when i've been gigging with my bari and not practicing on my Alto
