I do not play jazz too often, and it is not my main focus.
What do people reccomend for College-level theory?

If you do not want to think like everyone else then check out Arnold Schoenberg's "Structual Functions of Harmony" - sells for about $6 to $8 used; Theory of Harmony - about $15 used; and finally, Fundamentals of Music Composition.
All are different from the usual drab and they will stretch your imagination.
