    Default Sax player on track "native new yorker"

    Any ideas as to who plays the cool sax solo on track "native new yorker" by Odyssey? About to learn it & wondered who was/their setup? Great sound/phrasing.
    Cheers

    It was George Young on Alto sax. I know because I recorded it. Michael played in the horn section during the ensemble recordings, but that solo is Georgie.

    Love that od Disco theme which was quite popular back then and I swear that is Mike Brecker on Tenor sax on the solos. has all of the Breckerisms and soul funk jazz tight solos which was a hallmark for Mike. still missed by the way.

    I guess there were at least two recordings and one was done by Mr. Young but I believe this is the one in question;

    Hello John,

    To satisfy your curiosity ...On that particular track, "Native New Yorker", the saxophone solo, in fact, was done by my good friend and colleague at the time, the late and great MICHAEL BRECKER. And, it was performed on the tenor saxophone, not the alto. I merely played the alto saxophone in the horn section on that recording session.

    Also ...
    I must thank you, and commend you for your work in keeping such musical and historical information current in the world of recorded popular music.
    I wish you continued success with your quest.

    Thank you again,
    George Young ¢Ý
