Thread: How much is my Martin sax worth?

Default How much is my Martin sax worth?

I purchased a Martin sax at an estate auction. It has a few small dents, but I've had it reconditioned with all new pads. How can I tell how old it is? How much could it be worth? Where can I find the serial number on the horn? I want to sell it on eBay but want some kind of idea of what it's worth first. Any help would be great! Thanks.

The serial no should be below the thumb hook, check also it says 'low pitch'; then head to Steve Goodson's site at http://www.saxgourmet.com/serial.html to find out when it was made. At http://www.saxgourmet.com/VINTAGE_SA...ALUE_GUIDE.htm you'll find Steve G's opinion of what your horn might be worth in absolutely pristine condition. A more realistic guide would be to search eBay for completed Martin sax auctions, which should at least put you in the ballpark.
    Happy hunting!
