Thread: YTS 34-II Allegro

    Default YTS 34-II Allegro

I recently got a used YTS 34-II. My first impression was soso. But, I went it through with leak light and fixed couple of leaks and...

Wow, I can't believe this is a "student" line saxohone. I've never tried Yamaha tenor before although my first horn was yas 23.

It is very comfortable horn and would be a bang for the buck if you can find a used one. I wonder how good 62 or costom models are.

The Allegro is Yamaha's intermediate level and is close to $2,000 new. I think they're awesome instruments. They're perfect for the advancing MS or HS student who is on-the-fence regarding a career in music but still very serious about playing.

Is that true that Allegros are non-engraving version of 62s?

I wish I have a budget to get it engraved.

I owned a YTS34 II as well. According to Yamaha's web site. It is an exact
copy of the 62 without an annealed bell. It has the same G-1 neck as the 62
as well as many other features. After owning both, (although not at the same time ) the real bargain is the YTS34 II . Although I feel the sound is a little thinner up top with the 34, it stands up fine against the 62.

The Yamaha chart I have compares the Allegro to the 475 & 62II.

    Here is the breakdown.
    ----------475-----------------Allegro-----------62II

    Body----Same as student----62II style--------62II style

    Neck----Classic 62 style-----Pro style G1------Pro style G1
    ----------------------------Hydroformed------Hydroformed

    Bell------Standard Bell------Standard Bell------Annealed Bell

Very interesting. So it's almost same as 62II besides the bell.

Thanks for the info! I love this allegro.
