    Default Mark Spencer.....Refacer in Australia

Just a quick plug for Mark Spencer, great saxophone player, repairer and mouthpiece refacer who lives on the Sunshine Coast in QLD, Land of Oz.
I just received a refaced buescher soprano blank (bought from Ron and Bev on eBay) that Mark refaced - copied a 6* Slant Signature Link. This mouthpiece really plays.
He also did a Sumner Acousticut #3 Tenor piece which opened up to a 6* which is awesome also.
I also have a metal tenor piece that Mark made a couple of years ago.
His prices are great, easy to deal with and it saves shipping stuff overseas. Many great Australian players are now playing pieces made or refaced by Mark, including Julian Wilson, Lachlan Davidson, Tony Buchanan and many more.
For all you folks living in Australia and want mouthpiece work done, drop Mark a line......mark@sax.com.au or PM me for his phone number.
He's incredibly easy to deal with and really knows his stuff.

PS: I have receive no monetary or other payment to promote Mark or his products. I'm just a very happy customer.
Get a horn that works, get a concept of sound, get a mouthpiece in the ballpark of that concept then go away and practice for 3 or 4 years and stop complaining

Add me to the list of happy customers. My bari and tenor metal links are really full sounding now. I've just been through his arsenal of Meyer altos and picked one that is every bit as good as a New York, but it was a hard choice as they are all good. nicko

I bought my 38 Crat Tenor from him, unseen. I was a bit nervous about buying an instrument untried, but it was everything he said it was.

He was very honest and helpful.

I've just bought a Link 7* (ebay) yesterday and did a gig with it the same night. Really pleased with both sax and mpc. The combination is what I imagined my Tenor sound to be.

Great things from Mark Spencer received here also. I got one of his modern hard rubber Link V's refaced by Mark and the piece really sings. Better than anything I've ever played!!!!!!!!!

    Thanks again Mark Spencer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hello all,

I'm very pleased to see and add to this thread! I'm the Jazz Sax Lecturer at the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide, and Mark has altered and opened up a rubber Link (tenor) for me that is absolutely what I've been looking for, for some years now. It's helped me to finally be comfortable with a very big mouthpiece change that has been quite frustrating for some time. I am getting everything I need out of this piece!

I urge all here in Australia AND elsewhere to send Mark some pieces, he'll get things right for you, at a fraction of the cost of other specialty makers in the states.

Doesn't Julien Wilson sound incredible on Mark's piece!? I believe Mark Spencer's work will be recognized by players from all around the globe soon...

cheers all, and happy honking! Dustan Cox

Just before you inundate him with work, bear in mind that he is a busy person, and turnaround time can be a bit "largo". Worth waitng for, though.

Another unsolicited plug for Mark Spencer.
I had an old link rubber piece that I dropped and broke the tip of, not only did Mark repair this with incredible accuracy he also made an identicle copy from another old link I had that plays better than the original. Mark is himself a very fine saxophonist and is wonderful to work with because from a players point of view he knew exactly what I was looking for. I reccomend him as a person and the wonderful work he does unreservedly . You can contact him by googling his name , he does have a website.

I'll 2nd that he is very busy. Last time I spoke to him about sending some pieces up we were looking at about a 4 week turnaround and he's even more snowed under since then I believe.
The work is worth the wait though.
