Ghosting

I'm having to write an assingment for music and in it I'm talking about Ghosting, I now how to do it but not how to explain it. could anyone give me a good meaning/explanation for ghosting. Preferably short, im already 250 wrds over

I'd think 'implying' or 'swallowing' a note/sound, rather than actually sounding it. It's an effect implemented by eliminating, yet fingering, certain tones when playing a series of tones/notes. Something like that.

It's easier said than done (well): you put your tongue on the reed while playing with a full breath, thus preventing the reed to vibrate completely, which makes a muffled, "ghosted" sound.
