What is a "DE LUXE"? Is that a brand or model name?
Are you asking about the specific saxophones in the photos, or are you asking about the entire model run of Toneking and DE LUXE?
And, how would ANYONE here know which of these two are better? You will learn over time not to evaluate an entire model run based on one or two playing experiences (assuming of course we aren' talking about SSO's from India or China). DAVE
Dave Dolson: I am asking about entire models of these two saxes. These are just pictures that I found on the internet, so you can see how they are look like.
The Toneking designation was a proprietary model name owned by Keilwerth (which before WWII owned the factory which then afterwards they made into AMATI) they used for some time this name by Amati and Ligatone ( their export brand) without the legal right for them to do so.
If you wish this is not very different from what happened to Zeiss. When Germany was separated you had the proper Zeiss company in West-Germany and the Zeiss-Jena company ( formerly owned by Zeiss) in the DDR.
After the name change, Amati went into the production of models like de Luxe or Super Classic. There are endless small variations among all Amati models. The Amati-Toneking are credited to have been almost or completely identical to their Keilwerth forebears.
